Bowling

We took Dexter bowling ALONE for the first time. He wasn’t overly impressed. Bored actually. He was more interested in the arcade games.

No doubt Jaxon will be off his head jealous that Dexter got to go bowling without him.

I learned that I can no longer lift my 11 pound bowling ball. I love my bowling ball, but its too heavy for me now. Six pounds is all I can manage now, one game at that :(

Boats and Spiders

Grandpa gave the boys a boat each for Christmas. So we went down to the local dam and gave them a whirl.

Well, one of the boats got stuck in some weedy stuff. So I suggested Tim go and get a log to pull it out.

The log he got to do this with was very large. The end he decided to put in the water was the heavy end. I innocently told him it would be easier to put the lighter end in when I noticed there was a MASSIVE spider on the end of the log.

This thing was huge!! And it was NOT happy with me!

Dinaosaur…Rawwww!

Peppa Pig. Bloody Peppa Pig. I am sick and tired of Peppa Pig! Three weeks running now and nothing different we’ve tried has influenced Dexter enough to stop wanting to watch Peppa Pig, TWENTY FOUR HOURS A DAY!

We nearly got a bite with Toy Story. He sat for almost all of the second movie. We even had a day with him walking around with Woody and another with Buzz. But our two day break from Peppa, did not last long.

If you’ve not watched Peppa Pig then you might not know that Peppa Pig has a baby brother George. And the most you ever hear George say is “Dinosaur, Rarrrrr”

Like Brother…like brother??

But not quite right??

These photo’s clearly happened years apart.

The one on the left displaying Jaxon at his lowest moment in his third year of life. Being busted emptying a bottle or two of baby powder in his room while unsupervised. Tim and I both remember clearly that when we went in trying desperately not to laugh at what he had done he started pointing here and there saying “I hurt myself here, here and here, and I wet my pants”

The one on the right, taken not three hours ago is Dexter’s handy work. Possibly the highest point in his second year of life. See the proud look on his face?? Know what he said when we growled at him for doing it?? “DOUG DID!” DOUG!”

Dexter Dancing

Dexter LOVES music and dancing!! He often get’s caught bopping to hippy hoppy kind of songs in the back seat of the car but if we try to catch it on video he stops! This was a +41 degree day so I think his brain was a little fried and I took advantage!

Grandma at the park.

Mum and I took the boys to the park one day last week. I got some really good photo’s both of the kids and of Dougie. And you too Mummy :)

Wow. That’s 64 photo’s. I’ve inserted it via gallery view. Which I don’t like doing. It looks less, me. Anyway. If you’d like to look closer at any of these photo’s just click on the image and it will show you the larger version.

Dexter doesn’t know it yet…

Dexter doesn’t know it but he’s never going to get to choose his own bike. If he doesn’t like Toy Story when he’s 3 and can reach the pedals of this bike, tough shit buddy!!

Note to my older Dexter: It’s just the way life is! Doesn’t mean I don’t love you any less!
Note to my older Jaxon: This is a photo of you when you were nearly three And the photo of Dexter is just before his second birthday :)

Dexter-ism’s 004 (The annoying one)

Have I told you that Dexter is a moody little so and so when he wants to be?? He goes through weeks of screaming when he can’t get something. Or screaming when you offer him something that wasn’t what he wanted. Or screaming…just because he can.

Well, let me tell you. Dexter LOVES Doug. But he’s also a little prat about him too. He can be nasty and throw things at the dogs head (tonight he extended that to Jaxon and threw a garden rock at his head. OUCH!) or he’ll  try to get in and sit on him or run him over with his bike. I’m glad the dog has enough sense to run away from him. Poor puppy!

Well, this was about two or three weeks after we got Doug. It shows Dexter’s Bipolar moods to a T. Happy one minute, grumpy the next. Happy one, grumpy the next.

Since getting this “from screaming to laughing” video I’ve been privy to some pretty evil, very fake laughs from him. I can’t say I love it and can’t wait for him to move forward. It’s possibly just a communication thing.

Enjoy, the dog does not touch the boy. The boy does not touch the dog. No animals or toddlers were hurt in the making of this video.

Getting ready for a big move…

Dexter has been trying to tell us for a few weeks now that he thinks he’s ready to share a room with Jaxon. Each night, when we sit on the spare double bed (that Jaxon doesn’t like) to read a book, Dexter get’s comfortable in Jaxon’s bed laying on the ground.

Its getting very close to time that we thought about a bed for Dexter so we went out and updated Jaxon’s bed. We are getting bunk beds delivered on Thursday!

There’s a video to go with this post, that probably best shows why it’s a BAD idea for the boys to share a room just yet!

It’s REALLY done!

Well, we really did it. Dexter’s beautiful baby curls are gone. Is Mummy ok about it?? No. In fact, it sent me in to a highly depressive state for a couple of days. And I DID cry!

He sat perfectly for the hair dresser though. I didn’t have to hold him in the chair or encourage him to sit still. He sat there and watched quietly as she did what she had to do.

Jaxon on the other hand, was bribed by a handful of jelly beans from the vending machine.

I don’t wanna!

It’s done. It can’t be kept off any longer.

Dexter is booked in to  have his beautiful baby curls cut off after school today.

I really don’t want to, but it is getting a bit long now. It makes me sad. Because Dexter may well be my last baby. So this is me saying good bye to baby fuzzy hair and hello to grown up little boy hair.

I don’t wanna!!!

Your “awww” moment for the day…

I know this may not be so impressive that everyone gets that “awwww” thing happening. But this happens so very rarely with both of my kids that each and every time it happen’s it’s an “awwww” moment.

I can thank being sick for this. It started with a sore throat for me a few days before Easter Friday. I’ve had that sore throat since then and now all of my boys have it too!

Yay…we’re free!!

This possibly fall’s under a Jaxon-ism.

I’ve decided these school holidays that I have a couple of new goals to reach.

One, I want to lose three kilo’s. To get me below 80. I haven’t been below 80 since I was 16 or so!

Two, to start taking more GOOD photo’s of the boys. I’ve been using the auto function for nearly two years now. Since Tim had his MS attack.

So I haven’t taken them out for a very long time to do JUST that. I don’t think Jaxon would even remember our little trips to parks and creeks and what not just  to take photos. As I said, first time in years.

Yet when I put the camera down for a few minutes he asked me if I was going to stop taking photo’s. When I replied yes he exclaimed “Yay, we’re freeee”

It can’t be that bad can it?? For furture reference Jaxon, Mummy only has a few baby to teen photo’s to remember life as a child by. Count yourself lucky!

My anal retentiveness means I have to seperate these photo’s because they’re different layouts and it would piss me off to look at all mixed up!

Thanks to daylight savings I actually took the boys to the park at just past 7am in the morning. I was wondering why no one else was there!

CURLS!

“Really Mum, put it down and put me in the bath already!!”

The curls come from Tim’s side of the family. I don’t believe anyone from my side has them. Only time will tell if he’s destined to have curly hair or if once we cut it he’ll lose them. I’m still holding off on cutting it though!

Park

It was labor day weekend this past weekend so Jaxon had the day off, though Tim didn’t. The boys and I went to the park and it turns out…Dexter LOVES the slide.

After the first few goes with Jaxon he started to climb 4 inches up the slide and then “slide” down yelling “ahhhhh weeeee”

I need to be a Turtle!

The other night when we yelled out “teeth time” like you hear in this video, Dexter got off my lap in the lounge room and toddled off to the bath room for teeth time all by himself. Then he got off the bench, walked in to Jaxon’s room straight over to his power point to turn on his light and music. When he thought he’d turned on the light and music he went over to choose a book to read! That is our exact routine and Dex knew it by heart. It was like he’s been doing it for thirty years or something. Do you think I can get him to do it again for video? NO! Still trying though!

In the mean time, here’s another of the boys playing together :) Love my boys!

I’m not a Turtle!

So this evening while I did dishes the boys were in Jaxon’s room giggling and carrying on laughing. I decided to get the camera and sneak up on them to capture how well they play together (melts my heart to have them so good together!) when out of the hall way comes this big white box moving all on it’s own. I didn’t get that bit…but it continued until bed time!

Another video to come!!

My Beautiful Boys!

This is becoming quite the daily tradition. Dexter wakes up and Jaxon goes in to play with him. This morning though, Jaxon was “teaching” Dexter how to high five and pronouncing “We’re partners Mum”

I’m so proud of Jaxon as a big brother. I have no doubt in my mind that he will forever look after (and perhaps UP) to his little brother for the rest of his life.

Nom Nom!!

I’m in the process of trying to lose weight at the moment. My neurosurgeon has told me that if I don’t get closer to my healthy BMI (which is 65 kilo’s by the way and a very long way away!) then I might as well expect to be in a wheel chair unable to walk in 10 to 15 years.

So in my attempts, which have been very successful to date (nearly 10 kilo’s in 2 months, pretty good when I’m still restricted to only doing as much as my back and leg will allow) I’ve also reduced the amount of crappy food and drink that Jaxon was getting.

But that’s not to say they don’t get sweets, or treats. It just means, they really ARE treats. Not an every day part of their life style.

This is Dexter, and his first chocolate muffin. His first birthday is coming up in a few weeks and I’m not sure Tim could design a cake strong enough to withstand the forces that are “Dexter V Food”

He’s like a food processor that doesn’t need to be plugged in!!

The next post will be related to this too…it will be self explanatory!

Dexter’s Not always cute Trick

How cute is this??

Very cute…right??

Not so cute when he does it just as the spoon reaches his mouth and you pour it in to his ear! Although he does a VERY good job at getting food ALL over himself without doing this shit!!

Brothers just wanna have fun…

Every time Dexter wakes up and we can hear him stirring through the monitor Jaxon will ask me if he can “Go and say hello”

Today though, as I listened to him saying hello, the playing seemed to be going on forever. Normally either Jaxon comes out proclaiming he’s done saying hello or Dexter get’s so hungry that he starts to kick up a fuss.

None of that today. I finally got suspicious and went to see what all the giggling was about.

Guts!

I’m telling you, if you don’t put it out of reach, it doesn’t matter what it is…Dex will have at it!

This is what he thought of the real thing. He’s doing better than Jaxon. He wont eat Mandarin at all!

Chalk and Cheese

About the only thing that Jaxon and Dexter have in common…is Mum and Dad.

Dexter eats like a bottomless pit. He will try anything and the only thing we’ve found he doesn’t like is corn.

When I put him in to his chair to wait while I’m getting his meal ready…I have to make sure MY MEAL is not within arms reach.

Or this happens.

One tooth!

It might only be ONE TOOTH but god damned it can do some damage! He’s so efficient with that sharp little bugger that he actually bit his own tongue with it. And, he can chew through a chunky potato chip (hot) no worries!

He now has TWO of them…I dare not put my fingers in there!
